Until the early 1980s, men were largely seen as bystanders in women’s empowerment efforts. The Beijing Declaration in 1995 marked a shift by recognising that gender justice cannot be achieved without men’s active participation. Advancing gender equity therefore requires building leadership among young professionals in the social sector, with a strong focus on engaging men and boys as partners in change. Saamya works to nurture such leadership by promoting a gender-sensitive society and encouraging men and boys to actively lead transformative efforts toward gender equality.
Saamya organises workshops for young professionals and students to strengthen their understanding of gender, patriarchy, and power. These workshops emphasise the role of men and boys in advancing gender equality and equip participants with practical strategies to apply gender-transformative approaches within their own projects and programmes.
Saamya also have a fellowship programme for young social sector professional to gain on ground experiences working in the field.
